On May 31, 2023, the 3rd session of the Regional Training Seminar organized by the representative office of the World Health Organization in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the site of Aktau port.

In his welcoming speech to the participants of the seminar, the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Sea port of Aktau” noted that the experience of the consequences of the recent pandemic tells us about the unconditional importance of the issue of readiness to prevent the international spread of diseases and take public health response measures, but at the same time not creating unnecessary obstacles for international transport and trade.

Also, the head of the of Aktau port expressed confidence that today’s international event, organized in the format of an open dialogue, will allow to gain practical experience and be ready for new and constantly changing risks to public health.

During the session, the participants also got acquainted with the infrastructure of Aktau port and the premises provided for medical care and isolation, as well as conducted tabletop exercises and visited ships of the merchant and port fleet to get acquainted with the conditions of ship sanitation.

The key goal of the entire 5-day event is to explore the International Health Regulations (2005) assessment tools within the framework of core capacity requirements at selected airports, ports and land border crossings.

Representatives of 13 countries take part in the work of the practical training seminar, including the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus and Europe.
